Justice & Redemption
TLDR:
(too long, didn’t read)
Redemption Starts Within – Real change begins with forgiving and healing ourselves, as it’s one of the few things we can control. Compassion and grace for ourselves pave the way for growth.
Mistakes Are Lessons in Disguise – Life’s wrong turns often lead to the best outcomes. Embrace your past, learn from it, and use those lessons to move forward.
Forgiveness Is Freedom – Forgiving others (and yourself) doesn’t mean excusing harm; it means letting go of the hurt so you can heal and grow without carrying the weight of anger or blame.
Gratitude Fuels Growth – Focus on what brings you joy and anchors you in the present. Shifting your mindset toward gratitude helps you embrace new opportunities for improvement.
Progress Over Perfection – Redemption isn’t a straight path. It’s a lifelong journey of learning, adapting, and starting fresh—again and again. Give yourself grace, and keep going.

What Is Justice Without Redemption?
When I look at the world, one thing is clear: we’re all in need of a little redemption. Whether it’s as individuals, groups, or entire societies, redemption feels like the magic ingredient we need for real, meaningful change. And while the world might be shouting for our attention, I’ve learned that the best place to start is within ourselves. Forgiving and healing ourselves is one of the few things we can actually control—and wow, does it make a difference!
The Blueprint for Redemption
Right now, “redemption” is the running theme in my life. Honestly, I don’t often feel like I’m in a position to give advice, but hey, I’m here anyway, sprinkling little seeds of wisdom I’ve gathered along the way.
The other day, I was catching up with some friends and blurted out, “I feel like at every twist and turn, I’ve made every possible mistake. It’s like someone handed me a cheat sheet of wrong answers, and I aced the test!” We laughed, but it hit close to home. Some days, I still feel like that.
But most days? Most days, I’m thankful for those “mistakes.” Because without them, I wouldn’t have my daughter, the single most beautiful thing in my life. She’s my reset button, my spiritual awakening, my upgrade in this game of life. Being her mom has taught me about love—how to love others, how to love myself, and what it truly means to grow.
For me, motherhood has been the ultimate perspective shift, but we all have these transformative moments, whether it’s a new life, a loss, or some other game-changing experience. And in those moments of fundamental change, here’s what I’ve learned:
1. Grace Is a Gift—Give It to Yourself
Would you ever tell someone else, “Wow, you’ve made every wrong choice possible”? Of course not! So why do we talk to ourselves that way? Cut yourself some slack.
2. You Can’t Know What You Weren’t Taught
Blaming yourself for what you didn’t know is like being mad at a tree for not knowing how to dance. Learn the lessons now and move forward.
3. Compassion Is Your Superpower
The sooner you forgive yourself, the sooner you can focus on gratitude and growth. Compassion opens doors you didn’t even know were locked.
4. This Is Your Chance
Every new perspective is an opportunity. Take it and run with it.
Forgiveness Is for You, Not Them
Here’s a mind-blowing truth I learned from Caroline Myss: forgiveness doesn’t mean letting someone back into your life. It doesn’t mean you have to call them up or even think kindly about them. Forgiveness is about letting go of the hurt, so it no longer weighs you down. It’s not about excusing the past—it’s about freeing your future.
Focus on Gratitude and Progress
On tough days, I think about my daughter’s smile or that first moment I held her in my arms. It’s my emotional anchor, and it works like magic to shift my focus. If you can, find your own anchor—a memory, a moment, or even a simple joy that pulls you into gratitude.
And remember, growth isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up, trying again, and tweaking what doesn’t work. As James Clear writes in Atomic Habits, small environmental changes can create huge shifts. So, rearrange your life—literally and metaphorically—and watch the magic happen.
Redemption Is a Marathon, Not a Sprint
The journey isn’t a straight line, and that’s okay. Life loops, twists, and sometimes doubles back on itself. But every second, minute, and hour is another chance to begin again.
Look ahead, not back. Redemption isn’t about reaching a destination; it’s about embracing the ride, mistakes and all. And hey, I’m here cheering you on every step of the way!
You’ve got this! Keep walking, keep growing, and keep giving yourself grace. The best is yet to come.
Much Love,
Astrid M
